A CROPPED VIEW WITH SHUTTERS

I want to see if I will allow changes to the original pictures.

It worked. I modified the original by cropping and enhancing and I selected the modified version to post. I am a happy camper. I just completed my second drawing lesson tonight. I also baked some banana bread this afternoon with some black bananas we had and it is yummy. It was a scratch recipe from an good, old Betty Crocker Cook Book.

Now I need to work on my spelling and proof reading. Ha. Too bad this Blog does not have spell check. Well, I guess it does. It underlines misspelled words, but does not recognize wrong words used.

I hope none of you all get the flu that has hit the Petersons and Vermillion. Yikes! I have not heard of much flue around here. Keep it in South Dakota, Sara!

The flu has been very bad here too. We hve had a lot of kids in the intensive care this winter with the flu and RSV. I thought I was feeling better but last night started feeling bad again. Chris woke up sick during the night. Hope that this is over soon.

It amazes me how much the shutters add to the look of the house. It looks great, Tam.

Dad: My mouth is watering thinking about your homemade banana bread. YUM!

I didn't know you were taking a drawing class? That's so cool. You've always been so artistic.

I'm working from home this week while Gertie mends. Wish me luck!

oh Roberta. I'm so sorry. Hang in there. It WILL be spring soon!

Good Job Brian!!! I made banana bread this week-end - we will need to have a baking contest (ha!)

Hope everyone is feeling better soon

hey everybody! What's happening? I've missed you.

We're good here. It was balmy today...nearly 20. Maggie was walking home without a coat on. GOOD GRIEF!

Gertie still has a fever so is still home, but doesn't feel too bad. We've actually had a pretty good week. We've played lots of UNO, had several dance parties, and played pre-school a lot!

Gray is looking forward to tomorrow...Doug will be at his school all day showing the 1st graders a real human brain. He does this every year and the kids just love it! Gray can hardly wait! He said he's bringing his dad for show & tell! :)

I had book club tonight...we discussed Philip Roth's GoodBye Columbus. It was OK...a nice story, but not much to it that I could see. Now I'm reading Freakonomics, which I'm really enjoying.

Doug spoke to the Lions Club tonight about Habitat for Humanity. Doug is leading an effort to bring Habitat to the Vermillion community.

Good Night!

Not much news here. We had snow during the night so it wasn't a nice driving home this morning. I have to go to work tonight too but the streets don't look too bad. We don't have enough snow here so when it does snow the roads are terrible and everybody panics. I work all week-end so I will be working, sleeping and eating for my week-end excitement.

I think everybody is feeling better around here. Brooke was home from school yesterday (Thursday) but probably could have gone. She was here with me and around noon asked if I was going to go to jail because she stayed home from school when she wasn't really sick.

Hope everybody has a good week-end.

Marge and Stan, have fun with Amber, Don and Justin.

oh my goodness!! That is so funny!!! I really hope you don't go to jail, Roberta. She obviously has a guilty conscience. I can relate! :)

Hang in there this weekend, Roberta. Do you get Monday off to relax after a weekend of work?

OH...I made an interesting dinner tonight. BBQ-style chicken. 1 c. ketchup, 1 can diet cola, 1 lb chicken, 4 whole grain buns. Combine ketchup & cola in a skillet and bring to a boil. Let simmer 5 minutes. Add chicken and cook through. Remove chicen & shred. Let sauce continue to cook & thicken. Add chicken back in. Makes 4 sandwiches worth 6 points each. It was good & easy.

Sara - your chicken recipe sounds very intersting - do you think you could use diet coke???

Not much happening here - we just renewed Carl's dental and DEA license - around $700 - we did it on line - pretty cool!

Carl is feeling a little better today - but is still coughing a lot - hopefully in the next few days he will be better!

Take care.

I used Diet Pepsi. I think you could use diet coke too. The recipe just called for diet cola. It was easy...and was pretty good. We just ate the leftovers for lunch today.

It's gorgeous outside today. Up in the 40's. BUT...supposed to ice & snow tonight again. I've heard 4 inches. We'll see what happens by morning. I think its supposed to start at 6am.

Gertie is at a friend's house for the afternoon. Maggie has a friend over, and a friend of Gray's is on his way. RIght now, Gray & Doug are watching Lord of the Rings. I finished Freakonomics (which I highly recommend -- very interesting!) and now just started reading Mornings on Horseback -- about Teddy Roosevelt. I would have never picked it up on my own, but someone from my book group picked it and I think I'll like it. It's a big book. We meet on MArch 15...so I have a few weeks.

I'm making Tam's Poppy Seed Chicken tonight. It's one of our favorites!!! Tam gave the recipe to Mom YEARS ago. I wonder if Tam still makes it as much as the Rogers' do!

Enjoy your Sunday.
