How is Beth feeling? You had mentioned that she was expecting and no other news about it. When is she due?

Brock is recovering quite well. You would never of guessed that he had anything done. He is sleeping through the night again, so that is a plus!!

Beth is getting over a bad cold, but otherwise doing well as far as I know. She is due in October sometime. Glad Brock is doing so well and hope the tests come back negative. The big news around here is that my mother, Lucy, is sick and we had to take her to the hospital yesterday. She got a urinary infection that zapped her. We finally took her into the ER Tuesday evening and they did lots of tests and sent us home with meds for the urinary infection. Well, she was so weak and kept getting sicker and weaker that Thursday we made a Dr. appointment, but she was so weak we could not get her in the car so called 911 for an ambulance. She is doing much better and they are going to keep her another night. She is eating, betting meds including potassium and they are getting her up and walking. Our family doctor, Dr. Birch, is her doctor and we are very confident in his skills at getting her well.

Glad that Brock is doing well. It is amazing how quickly kids recover.

Sorry to hear about Lucy - what a terrible ordeal for her. It sounds like she is in good hands. Hope she is back on her feet soon.

Poor Grandma Lucy. It's good that if she was going to get sick that she got sick while with you and not on the way home or after she got home. She had you to take care of her. She muct have been very sick for you to have called 911. Older people and children get so sick so fast. Glad to hear that she is doing better. When will she return to Scottsburg?

The plan for now is for her to return home on April 4th. I will fly back to Chicago with her and stay until she gets on the plane for Louisville. I was over there this afternoon and she was complaining that she was cold and her legs hurt. She has arthritis in her legs and we asked for something for that. She needs to walk and did not want to at 3 because of the pain in here legs. They were calling her Dr. to get her a pill.

I hope Grandma Lucy gets to feeling better fast--being sick is no fun! I'm glad Beth is feeling better also! How scary for both of them! I also hope that no one else gets sick--think spring!!! Jess

Hi all! I'm right here in Norfolk while my Grandma Lucy is here and sick, and would you believe we've had to stay away from her completely this week?? Some of us Protzmans are fighting a bad respiratory virus. Fever, sore throats, and wheezy coughs. Esther and I are starting to get better, Abby is just starting to go down, and David is still in the middle...can't tell yet if he's going to continue to get worse or turn the corner and recover.

Pretty bad timing, while Lucy's here. But as much as she loves us, she's glad for us to keep these germs to ourselves. Maybe her extended stay will allow us to heal first and then still have some time together.

I hope Lucy is better by now - I'm glad she has a few days to recover before traveling - that can be exhaustine.

It is cold here today -- only 55 degrees - quite a change from 81 yesterday!

Sounds like the Protzman's have the "bug" - hope everyone recovers quickly and everyone in Norfolk is better soon.

Not much change in Lucy. They are keeping her another day at least. Still very weak and has no appetite. She is walking some, but only because they make her. They have her on a heart monitor now and took a chest X-ray this morning. He breathing is shallow. Another doctor is going to stop and see her this afternoon. He is a friend of Roger and Tricia and is a Hospitalist Doctor. They just gave her something for her tummy.

I'm so sorry that Grandma is sick. I'm looking forward to my visit with her tomorrow. I'll leave here early and get to the hospital around 9am.

We're hosting a Championship Game party tonight at 5. The Lady Coyotes are in the finals of the NCAA Div. II basketball championship. They play...ummmmm...sombobody at 5. It's on TV, so we're having a party! Our colors are red & white...so everybody is required to wear red & eat red! We're having a potluck of red food. We put cake with white frosting & red sprinkles, red chips & salsa, licorice & strawberries & strawberry yogurt out on the table. Doug bought some Killian's Red beer and some red pop. I'm planning to drink some red wine. Sounds like a party! :)

We've had a tough day...we had to put our cat, Elwood, to sleep today. Gray & Maggie and I were with him at the vet clinic when we put him to sleep. Tough decision...but he was old & sick. Poor little guy. He was a good cat. Maggie is very sensitive and took it hard. Gertie realizes she's supposed to be sad, but kinda has to work at it, and Gray truly loves animals & appreciates the circle of life. He was adimant that we put him to sleep before he was in more pain. It was a sad, but gentle ending, to his long life.

Give your pets an extra pat on the head tonight! :)
