COUPLE OF GREAT NATURE PICTURES

My friend from Missouri, Phyllis Williams, send some great nature pictures that I wanted to share.  They are of a hummingbird and twin fawns.

Phyllis says... "I have a Kodak Easy Share with a 10X zoom (I think). I normally leave it set on the Auto Setting, but for the hummingbirds I had to put it on the Sports setting. I was about 4 feet from the feeders. They are right outside by my front door and kitchen window so they are used to "humans". I just had to stand really still, I still want to get a good picture of one of the males. From the coloring on the females, I think they are this years babies.

I was on the 4-wheeler when I took the picture. For some reason as long as I stayed on it the fawns didn't seem to mind me, I even stood up to take the pictures. I think I was about 30 feet from them when I took the picture. I have a couple short videos of them too, it sure was a lot of fun watching them.

I am lucky enough to see so many beautiful "critters", I just like to share. My next goal is to get some good pictures of the wild turkey's.. and some of the hawks and falcons that hang around the barn and house area."

We did have fox and coyotes, just not close to the house, the dogs make sure they don't get too close. We also have bobcats in the area, I can hear them early in the morning. No wolves or bears that I know of. They say in southern Mo. there have been some bear sitings. My mother-in-law's farm has a big old 100+ year old oak barn with a hay loft which a pair of the big "barn" owls have taken over, she also has pigeons living in one of her barns. Her farm has a couple springs close to the barns and house so the wild life hang out really close to her. I think that is why Jack (one of her dogs) liked to spend so much time around there...it gave him something to do... He hated the ground hogs that moved into the big old barn....
